Red Hand Day - Weltweite Aktivitäten

We want more than words on a page to ban the use of children as soldiers. Take Enforcement Action Now!

Each day without action, children lose their lives.

The psychological damage on developing children is enormous and lasts a lifetime.

Former War Child & International Rap Artist Emmanuel Jal with URI Student Nonviolence Involvement Committee

2 events - Emmanuel Jal visited campus to tell his story and a campus day for collecting protest red hands

Our Student Nonviolence Involvement Committee sponsored two events supporting this cause. The first event was in collaboration with our university’s Student Entertainment Committee inviting a guest speaker and former child soldier, Emmanuel Jal. Emmanuel performed and spoke for two hours to approximately 500 students on our campus. His presence and his moving story were vivid examples of the horrors experienced by child soldiers. He was an inspiration to everyone. Our second event was held in the URI Memorial Union from 10:00am to 3:30pm. We were welcomed with support from students, staff and faculty. There was a great turn out, collected 208 handprints and signatures, and we look forward to participating next year. We were happy to extend our hands to yours in peace and nonviolence.
