Red hands for Child Soldiers

291 hands for Child Soldiers

On Saturday 24 January, participants of the Amnesty student group took part in a workshop on Child Soldiers. The goal of this workshop was to inform who the Child Soldiers are, in which countries they are used and what their day looks like. Everybody was moved after they found out that not only poor countries have problems with using children as soldiers but also rich ones like the USA, Great Britain, Ireland or the neighbouring country of Poland- Germany. In the end, each person drew their own hand on the piece of paper to express their support with children who fight and do some other actions during wars. Furthermore, the same group organised The Red Hand Day at the high school in Turek on Tuesday 27 January. Thanks to students and teachers who participated in this activity, the group collected 291 red hands. I wish to thank everybody who took part in this activity. Anna Kwiatkowska.
